Aluminium Market Size in the Netherlands

Overall, aluminium exports continue to indicate a modest increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014, with an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the aluminium exports attained their peak volume of X tonnes. From 2015 to 2017, growth of the aluminium exports stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, aluminium exports stood at $X in 2017. In general, aluminium exports continue to indicate a mild decline. In that year, the aluminium exports reached their peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2017, growth of the aluminium exports failed to regain its momentum.

Aluminium Exports by Country in the Netherlands

In 2017, Russia (X tonnes) and Canada (X tonnes) were the key exporters of aluminum (unwrought, not alloyed) in the globe, together creating X% of total exports. India (X tonnes) ranks second in terms of the global exports with a X% share, followed by Australia (X%), Iceland (X%), Malaysia (X%), the United Arab Emirates (X%) and the Netherlands (X%). South Africa (X tonnes), Saudi Arabia (X tonnes), Mozambique (X tonnes) and New Zealand (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Saudi Arabia (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest aluminium markets worldwide were Canada ($X), Russia ($X) and India ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Australia, Iceland, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, the Netherlands, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Mozambique and New Zealand, which together accounted for a further X%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Saudi Arabia (+X% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to exports, over the last decade, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Aluminium Export Prices by Country in the Netherlands

The aluminium export price in the Netherlands stood at $X per tonne in 2017, jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, aluminium export price continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017, when the export prices increased by X% year-to-year. The Netherlands export price peaked of $X per tonne in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2017, it failed to regain its momentum.

There were significant differences in the average export prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2017, the country with the highest export price was Mozambique ($X per tonne), while Russia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

In general, aluminium imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016, when it surged by X% year-to-year. The Netherlands imports peaked of X tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2017, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, aluminium imports stood at $X in 2017. Overall, aluminium imports continue to indicate a mild setback. Over the period under review, the aluminium imports reached its peak figure level of $X in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2017, it failed to regain its momentum.

Aluminium Imports by Country in the Netherlands

In 2017, the U.S. (X tonnes), Japan (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and Italy (X tonnes) represented the key importers of aluminum (unwrought, not alloyed) in the world, creating X% of total import. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017, when the import prices increased by X% y-o-y. The Netherlands import price peaked of $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2017, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Average import prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2017, major importing countries recorded the following import prices: in Norway ($X per tonne) and Germany ($X per tonne), while Brazil ($X per tonne) and Turkey ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
