Wrapping Papers Market Size in Thailand

For the fourth year in a row, Thailand recorded growth in overseas shipments of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2020. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wrapping papers exports amounted to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a notable expansion from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

China (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes) and Viet Nam (X tonnes) were the main destinations of wrapping papers exports from Thailand, together accounting for X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Viet Nam, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Malaysia ($X), South Korea ($X) and Viet Nam ($X) were the largest markets for wrapping papers exported from Thailand worldwide, together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by China, India, Taiwan (Chinese), Cambodia and Mauritius, which together accounted for a further X saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Thailand

In 2020, supplies from abroad of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The U.S., Austria, China, Germany and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while the price for Austria ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
