For the third consecutive year, Thailand recorded decline in overseas shipments of raw hides and skins of cattle, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cattle hide and skin exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Colombia (X tons) was the main destination for cattle hide and skin exports from Thailand, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, cattle hide and skin exports to Colombia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Cambodia (X tons), with an X% share.

The average cattle hide and skin export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the price for Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
