Files And Rasps Exports

Exports from Thailand

In 2022, approx. X units of files, rasps and similar tools were exported from Thailand; reducing by -15.5% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 257%. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, files and rasps exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 134%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Papua New Guinea (X units), Japan (X units) and Saint Lucia (X units) were the main destinations of files and rasps exports from Thailand, together comprising 43% of total exports. Vanuatu, French Guiana, Myanmar, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, Cambodia, Grenada, Jamaica, Lao People's Democratic Republic and Trinidad and Tobago lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 50%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Dominica (with a CAGR of +77.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the key foreign market for files, rasps and similar tools exports from Thailand, comprising 40% of total exports. In 2022, supplies from abroad of files, rasps and similar tools increased by 49% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, files and rasps imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of files and rasps to Thailand, accounting for a 55% share of total imports.
