Acyclic Hydrocarbons Market Size in Thailand

For the third consecutive year, the Thai acyclic hydrocarbons market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -X% to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Acyclic Hydrocarbons Production in Thailand

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons production fell notably to $X in 2020 estimated in export prices. In general, production, however, recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Acyclic hydrocarbons production peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Thailand

In 2020, overseas shipments of acyclic hydrocarbons decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons exports fell markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China (X tonnes) was the main destination for acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Thailand, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, acyclic hydrocarbons exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Singapore (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to China totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+X% per year) and Singapore (-X% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) remains the key foreign market for acyclic hydrocarbons exports from Thailand, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Indonesia ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to China totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (-X% per year) and Singapore (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average acyclic hydrocarbons export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Thailand

For the third year in a row, Thailand recorded growth in overseas purchases of acyclic hydrocarbons, which increased by X% to X tonnes in 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, acyclic hydrocarbons imports soared to $X in 2020. In general, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Malaysia (X tonnes), Singapore (X tonnes) and South Africa (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of acyclic hydrocarbons imports to Thailand, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Qatar, South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese) and Spain, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Spain (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the largest acyclic hydrocarbons suppliers to Thailand, together comprising X% of total imports. Qatar, Spain, South Korea and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main suppliers, Spain (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 an increase of X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per tonne), while the price for Singapore ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
