Tea Market Size in Switzerland

In 2020, the Swiss tea market increased by X% to $X, rising for the fourth consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2020, the amount of tea exported from Switzerland expanded markedly to X tonnes, picking up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, tea exports expanded sharply to $X in 2020. In general, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The UK (X tonnes) was the main destination for tea exports from Switzerland, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, tea exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tonnes), threefold. The Netherlands (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was France ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
