Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 936% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cashew nut imports declined notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 921%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced notably in the following year.

The Netherlands (X tons), Austria (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main suppliers of cashew nut imports to Switzerland, together comprising 66% of total imports. Vietnam, France, Cote d'Ivoire and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
