Roundwood Exports

Exports from Sweden

For the fourth year in a row, Sweden recorded growth in overseas shipments of roundwood, which increased by X% to X cubic meters in 2022. In general, exports posted a strong increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, roundwood exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Finland (X cubic meters), Norway (X cubic meters) and Latvia (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of roundwood exports from Sweden, with a combined X% share of total exports. Romania, Germany, Denmark, Austria and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of decline, there was growth in overseas purchases of roundwood, when their volume increased by X% to X cubic meters. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, roundwood imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Norway (X cubic meters) constituted the largest roundwood supplier to Sweden, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, roundwood imports from Norway exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Latvia (X cubic meters), twofold. Finland (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with an X% share.
