Bentonite Market Size in Sweden

The Swedish bentonite market dropped remarkably to $X in 2019, waning by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a notable increase from 2007 to 2019: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, consumption decreased by -X% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the market value increased by X% against the previous year. Sweden consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

In 2019, shipments abroad of bentonite increased by X% to X tonnes for the first time since 2016, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2019, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bentonite exports soared to $X in 2019. In general, exports, however, saw a deep downturn. Sweden exports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2019, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2019, India (X tonnes), distantly followed by the U.S. (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes), Italy (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the major exporters of bentonite, together mixing up X% of total exports. Slovakia (X tonnes), Azerbaijan (X tonnes), the Czech Republic (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), Germany (X tonnes) and Greece (X tonnes) occupied a little share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2019, the biggest increases were in Greece, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest bentonite supplying countries from Sweden were the U.S. ($X), Turkey ($X) and India ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports.

Turkey saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2019, the bentonite export price in Sweden amounted to $X per tonne, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2019, the growth in terms of the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2019, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while Greece ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Sweden

Bentonite imports into Sweden declined to X tonnes in 2019, with a decrease of -X% compared with 2018 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Sweden imports peaked at X tonnes in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2019, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bentonite imports dropped to $X in 2019. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2019, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2019, Germany (X tonnes), Canada (X tonnes), Indonesia (X tonnes), the Netherlands (X tonnes), Malaysia (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes), Russia (X tonnes), Saudi Arabia (X tonnes), Thailand (X tonnes), the UK (X tonnes), Japan (X tonnes) and France (X tonnes) was the major importer of bentonite in the world, making up X% of total import. Italy (X tonnes) occupied a little share of total imports.
