Exports from Sudan

In 2022, overseas shipments of leather were finally on the rise to reach X square meters for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, leather exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Saudi Arabia (X square meters) was the main destination for leather exports from Sudan, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, leather exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (X square meters), eightfold. China (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
