In value terms, phosphinates and phosphonates exports fell dramatically to less than $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Bangladesh (X tons) was the main destination for phosphinates and phosphonates exports from Sri Lanka, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, phosphinates and phosphonates exports to Bangladesh exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Indonesia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by India (X kg), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Bangladesh was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+X% per year) and India (X% per year).
It was followed by India, with a X% share.

Export Prices by Country
In 2020, the average phosphinates and phosphonates export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded buoyant growth. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; afterwards, it flattened through to 2020.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Sri Lanka
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of phosphinates (hypophosphites) and phosphonates (phosphites) increased by X% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports posted a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, phosphinates and phosphonates imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) constituted the largest phosphinates and phosphonates supplier to Sri Lanka, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, phosphinates and phosphonates imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by India (X tons), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United Arab Emirates stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+X% per year) and India (+X% per year).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of phosphinates and phosphonates to Sri Lanka, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by India ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United Arab Emirates totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+X% per year) and China (+X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average phosphinates and phosphonates import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (-X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
