Ireland (X kg) was the main destination for couscous exports from Sri Lanka, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, couscous exports to Ireland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X kg), fourfold. The United States (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Ireland totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-X% per year) and the United States (+X% per year).

Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt setback. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, couscous imports stood at $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Australia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of couscous to Sri Lanka, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, couscous imports from Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X kg), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the United Arab Emirates (X kg), with a X% share.
