In value terms, alcohols exports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Korea (X tons), Maldives (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of alcohols exports from Sri Lanka, together comprising X% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2020, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Sri Lanka

In 2020, approx. X tons of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives were imported into Sri Lanka; growing by X% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2020, Saudi Arabia (X tons) constituted the largest alcohols supplier to Sri Lanka, with a X% share of total imports.
