Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco exports declined to $X in 2020. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. from 2015 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

Portugal (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes) and Poland (X tonnes) were the main destinations of unmanufactured tobacco exports from Spain, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by France, the Netherlands, Italy and Russia, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in the Netherlands, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Portugal ($X), Belgium ($X) and France ($X) were the largest markets for unmanufactured tobacco exported from Spain worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. Poland, the Netherlands, Italy and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X Netherlands recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average export prices attained the maximum at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was France ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Russia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes. from 2009 to 2020, the growth imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco imports soared to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2020, the Philippines (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of unmanufactured tobacco to Spain, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, unmanufactured tobacco imports from the Philippines exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Portugal (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Philippines amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+X% per year) and Portugal (+X% per year).

In value terms, the Philippines ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Sri Lanka ($X) appeared to be the largest unmanufactured tobacco suppliers to Spain, together accounting for X% of total imports.

As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per tonne), while the price for Malawi ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
