The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, sulphur exports soared to $X in 2020. In general, exports enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
France (X tonnes) was the main destination for sulphur exports from Spain, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, sulphur exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Portugal (X tonnes), threefold. Tunisia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to France amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Portugal (+X% per year) and Tunisia (+X% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) remains the key foreign market for sulphur exports from Spain, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Portugal ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to France stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Portugal (+X% per year) and South Korea (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2020, the average sulphur export price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Spain
In 2020, the amount of sulphur (sublimed or precipitated) and colloidal sulphur imported into Spain reduced markedly to X tonnes, which is down by -X% compared with 2019 figures. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, sulphur imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. from 2018 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Chile (X tonnes), Portugal (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of sulphur imports to Spain, with a combined X% share of total imports. China lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (+X% per year), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Chile ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sulphur to Spain, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Portugal ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Chile stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Portugal (+X% per year) and South Korea (+X% per year).

The average sulphur import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.
