From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of refined palm oil increased by 98% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 227%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, refined palm oil imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 195%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) was the main supplier of refined palm oil to Spain, with a 96% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 1.3% share of total imports.
