Bus Market Size in Spain

In 2020, the Spanish bus market increased by X% to $X, rising for the fourth consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a temperate expansion from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. In 2020, shipments abroad of public-transport type passenger motor vehicles decreased by -X% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X units in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, bus exports declined to $X in 2020. In general, total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2007 to 2020: its value decreased at an average annual rate of -X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, exports decreased by -X% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X units) was the main destination for bus exports from Spain, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, bus exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X units), fivefold. Portugal (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+X% per year) and Portugal (+X% per year).

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), France ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the largest markets for bus exported from Spain worldwide, together comprising X% of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average bus export price stood at $X per unit in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed measured growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Spain

Bus imports into Spain skyrocketed to X units in 2020, growing by X% compared with 2019. Over the period under review, imports posted a notable increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, bus imports soared to $X in 2020. Overall, imports saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In 2020, France (X units) constituted the largest supplier of bus to Spain, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, bus imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Poland (X units), with a X% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average import price increased by X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2019, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Japan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
