Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of exports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing from Spain, together accounting for 68% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +146.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

After four years of growth, purchases abroad of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing decreased by -7.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 23%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of seeds, fruit and spores used for sowing to Spain, with a combined 76% share of total imports. The Netherlands and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
