Iron Oxide Pigments Market Size in Spain

In 2020, the Spanish iron oxide pigments market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, iron oxide pigments exports reduced slightly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. From 2011 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

France (X tonnes), Belgium (X tonnes) and Italy (X tonnes) were the main destinations of iron oxide pigments exports from Spain, together accounting for X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, the U.S., Russia, Turkey, Portugal, Denmark, the UK, South Korea, China and Austria, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for iron oxide pigments exported from Spain were France ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Portugal, Belgium, Turkey, the U.S., the UK, Russia, Denmark, South Korea, Austria and China, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Russia (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average iron oxide pigments export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, which is down by -X% against the previous year. Over the last thirteen years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Spain

In 2020, the amount of iron oxides and hydroxides imported into Spain rose to X tonnes, with an increase of X% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, iron oxide pigments imports totaled $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

The U.S. (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of iron oxide pigments imports to Spain, together comprising X% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Sweden, France, Colombia and Italy, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Sweden (+X% per year), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Germany ($X) and Colombia ($X) were the largest iron oxide pigments suppliers to Spain, with a combined X% share of total imports. The U.S., Italy, Belgium, France and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main suppliers, Sweden (+X% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average iron oxide pigments import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. From 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average import prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per tonne), while the price for the U.S. ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
