Fruit Flour Exports

Exports from Spain

For the seventh consecutive year, Spain recorded growth in overseas shipments of fruit flour, which increased by 2.6% to X tons in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +84.8% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 28%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, fruit flour exports dropped to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports by Country

France (X tons) was the main destination for fruit flour exports from Spain, with a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, fruit flour exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Germany (X tons), with an 11% share.

The average fruit flour export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -8.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Andorra ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Spain

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fruit flour increased by 6.1% to X tons, rising for the fourth consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports showed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 159%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fruit flour imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 116%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

France (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Sri Lanka (X tons) were the main suppliers of fruit flour imports to Spain, with a combined 54% share of total imports. Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, the UK, Lithuania, Greece, Ecuador, Malaysia and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +175.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fruit flour import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fruit flour import price increased by +10.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 32%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while the price for the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
