Concentrated Orange Juice Exports

Exports from Spain

In 2021, the amount of concentrated orange juice exported from Spain contracted dramatically to X tons, falling by -32.7% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice exports declined markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Korea (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of concentrated orange juice exports from Spain, together accounting for 47% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of +161.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Korea ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and the UK ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for concentrated orange juice exported from Spain worldwide, with a combined 53% share of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, concentrated orange juice imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main suppliers of concentrated orange juice imports to Spain, with a combined 76% share of total imports. Mexico, South Africa, Portugal, Argentina, France, Germany and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Argentina (with a CAGR of +367.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest concentrated orange juice suppliers to Spain were Belgium ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Brazil ($X), together accounting for 75% of total imports. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 37%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
