Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, citrus fruit preserves exports declined markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

France (X tonnes) was the main destination for citrus fruit preserves exports from Spain, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, citrus fruit preserves exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Portugal (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Belgium (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to France amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Portugal (+X% per year) and Belgium (+X% per year).

In value terms, France ($X), Portugal ($X) and Malaysia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for citrus fruit preserves exported from Spain worldwide, together accounting for X% of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Malaysia (+X% per year) saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average citrus fruit preserves export price amounted to $X per tonne, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices reached the maximum at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Spain

In 2020, approx. X tonnes of citrus fruit jams, marmalades, jellies, purees or pastes were imported into Spain; which is down by -X% against 2019. Over the period under review, imports faced a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tonnes in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, citrus fruit preserves imports declined significantly to $X in 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2020, Germany (X tonnes) constituted the largest citrus fruit preserves supplier to Spain, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, citrus fruit preserves imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the UK (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled -X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (-X% per year) and the UK (-X% per year).

Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the average citrus fruit preserves import price amounted to $X per tonne, dropping by -X% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, import prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per tonne), while the price for Germany ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
