The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per cubic meter in 2021, picking up by 4% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 29% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Bangladesh ($X per cubic meter) and Pakistan ($X per cubic meter), while India ($X per cubic meter) and Maldives ($X per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+11.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
