The total production indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. In 2021, overseas shipments of watches were finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, watch exports stood at $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -X% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

India dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2021. Bangladesh (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of watches. At the same time, Bangladesh (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021. Bangladesh (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest watch supplier in Southern Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bangladesh ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

The export price in Southern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a modest increase. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, watch imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
