India (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) dominates exports structure, together committing 89% of total exports. Sri Lanka (X kg) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Bangladesh (X kg). All these countries together took approx. 11% share of total exports.

The export price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 80%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, uncoated felt paper imports in Southern Asia declined markedly to X tons, dropping by -15.5% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 845% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, uncoated felt paper imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 304%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

Pakistan represented the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 88% of total imports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), achieving an 11% share of total imports.

Pakistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the uncoated felt paper and paperboard imports, with a CAGR of +71.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, India (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Pakistan (+87 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of India (-3.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
