Exports in Southern Asia

Exports of electric shavers, hair-removing appliances and hair clippers soared to X units in 2022, picking up by 83% on the previous year. In general, exports showed temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 279% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, India ($X), Sri Lanka ($X) and Pakistan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 99% of total exports.

Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +43.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -16.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 142% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, purchases abroad of electric shavers, hair-removing appliances and hair clippers decreased by -13.6% to X units for the first time since 2011, thus ending a ten-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum at X units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
