In 2020, overseas shipments of lard stearin, lard oil, oleostearin, oleo-oil and tallow oil decreased by -X% to X kg, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of X tonnes. from 2009 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, oleo oils exports reduced rapidly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the one major exporters of lard stearin, lard oil, oleostearin, oleo-oil and tallow oil, namely India, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lard stearin, lard oil, oleostearin, oleo-oil and tallow oil exports, with a CAGR of -X% from 2007 to 2020. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) also remains the largest oleo oils supplier in Southern Asia.

Overall, imports recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, oleo oils imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. from 2014 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Nepal dominates oleo oils imports structure, accounting for X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2020. It was distantly followed by India (X tonnes), committing a X% share of total imports.

Nepal was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lard stearin, lard oil, oleostearin, oleo-oil and tallow oil imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, India (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Nepal (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2007-2020, the share of India (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
