The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 25%. In 2021, overseas shipments of inks (excluding printing ink) were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 93%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -2.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

India represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 57% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Bangladesh (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons), together mixing up a 37% share of total imports. The following importers - Nepal (X tons) and Sri Lanka (X tons) - together made up 5.9% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +13.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported inks (excluding printing ink) in Southern Asia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bangladesh ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 7.8% share.

In India, ink imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bangladesh (+14.0% per year) and Pakistan (+8.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country
