Pakistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the husked (brown) rice exports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2018. At the same time, Sri Lanka (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, India (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2018, the share of Pakistan increased by +X% percentage points, while India (-X p.p.) saw their share reduced. The export price indicated a prominent increase from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, brown rice export price increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by X% year-to-year. The level of export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka, while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2018, the amount of husked (brown) rice imported in Southern Asia amounted to X tonnes, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, brown rice imports continue to indicate a remarkable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, brown rice imports attained their maximum in 2018 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, brown rice imports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, brown rice imports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of imports peaked in 2018 and are expected to retain its growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Bangladesh represented the major importer of husked (brown) rice in Southern Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tonnes, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2018. It was distantly followed by Afghanistan (X tonnes), generating an X% share of total imports.

Bangladesh was also the fastest-growing in terms of the husked (brown) rice imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2018. At the same time, Afghanistan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, brown rice import price decreased by -X% against 2016 indices.
