In 2018, the amount of husked (brown) rice imported in Southern Asia amounted to X tons, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, brown rice imports continue to indicate a remarkable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, brown rice imports attained their maximum in 2018 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, brown rice imports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, brown rice imports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of imports peaked in 2018 and are expected to retain its growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Bangladesh represented the major importer of husked (brown) rice in Southern Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2018. It was distantly followed by Afghanistan (X tons), generating an X% share of total imports.
