Bangladesh was also the fastest-growing in terms of the flours, meals and pellets of fish imports, with a CAGR of +29.9% from 2012 to 2021. India (-17.1%) and Sri Lanka (-24.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Bangladesh (+78 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of India (-3.5 p.p.) and Sri Lanka (-69.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Bangladesh ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported flours, meals and pellets of fish in Southern Asia, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 20% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Bangladesh totaled +26.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sri Lanka (-14.6% per year) and India (-20.4% per year).

The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed tangible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (+12.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
