The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, domestic appliances production rose slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, shipments abroad of domestic appliances was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, domestic appliances exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

India dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X units), generating an X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to domestic appliances exports from India stood at -X%. Pakistan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest domestic appliances supplier in Southern Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Pakistan ($X), with an X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in India was relatively modest.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Southern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, India (X units) represented the main importer of domestic appliances, generating X% of total imports. Bangladesh (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Nepal (X units), Pakistan (X units) and Sri Lanka (X units). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports. Afghanistan (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Nepal (+X%), Bangladesh (+X%) and Pakistan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nepal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2012-2021.
