Urea Exports
Exports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2023, urea exports in South-Eastern Asia dropped modestly to X tons, which is down by X% on 2022 figures. Overall, exports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2022, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, urea exports dropped sharply to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) represented roughly X% of total exports in 2023. Brunei Darussalam (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Vietnam (X%). Thailand (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Vietnam ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2023, together accounting for X% of total exports. Brunei Darussalam and Thailand lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
Thailand, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2023, declining by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2022, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2023, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of urea, when their volume increased by X% to X tons. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, urea imports declined sharply to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2022, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Thailand was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to X% of total imports. The Philippines (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Vietnam (X%) and Malaysia (X%). Cambodia (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of urea. At the same time, Cambodia (X%) and the Philippines (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Malaysia (X%), Vietnam (X%) and Myanmar (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of the Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively.
