In value terms, tin bar exports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 65%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Thailand (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) represented the main exporters of tin bars, rods, profiles and wires in 2022, finishing at near 36% and 32% of total exports, respectively. Indonesia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Singapore (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 29% share of total exports. Myanmar (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +2.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, tin bar export price increased by +58.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 50%. Import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, tin bar import price increased by +52.6% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 54% against the previous year.
