Exports in South-Eastern Asia

For the third consecutive year, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in overseas shipments of starter motors and dual purpose starter generators, which increased by X% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, starter motor exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Thailand represented the key exporter of starter motors and dual purpose starter generators in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports resulting at X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Malaysia (X units) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Indonesia (X%) and Singapore (X%). Vietnam (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of starter motors and dual purpose starter generators. At the same time, Indonesia (X%), Vietnam (X%) and Malaysia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Singapore (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2022, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, which is down by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
