Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the cosmetics exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (X%), Thailand (X%) and Malaysia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cosmetics imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Singapore represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together making up a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Vietnam (X tons) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.

Imports into Singapore increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X%), the Philippines (X%), Vietnam (X%), Indonesia (X%), Malaysia (X%) and Thailand (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. The Philippines (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Thailand saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
