In value terms, plywood exports shrank to $X in 2023. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. Plywood imports expanded sharply to X cubic meters in 2023, growing by X% against 2022 figures. Overall, imports enjoyed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plywood imports contracted to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports posted buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Thailand was the largest importing country with an import of about X cubic meters, which reached X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X cubic meters), Vietnam (X cubic meters), Malaysia (X cubic meters), Singapore (X cubic meters) and Cambodia (X cubic meters), together generating a X% share of total imports. Indonesia (X cubic meters) took a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Thailand increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Cambodia (X%), the Philippines (X%), Malaysia (X%) and Vietnam (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Indonesia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (X p.p.), the Philippines (X p.p.) and Cambodia (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore saw its share reduced by X%, X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
