Mica Market Size in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Southeast Asian mica market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. In general, consumption continues to indicate buoyant growth. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Mica Production in South-Eastern Asia
In value terms, mica production fell dramatically to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Production By Country in South-Eastern Asia
Indonesia (X tonnes) remains the largest mica producing country in South-Eastern Asia, accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, mica production in Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Myanmar (X tonnes), fivefold. Singapore (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total production with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume in Indonesia totaled +X%. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Myanmar (-X% per year) and Singapore (-X% per year).
Mica Exports
Exports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of mica, when their volume increased by X% to X tonnes. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tonnes. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mica exports dropped significantly to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Vietnam (X tonnes), Malaysia (X tonnes) and Indonesia (X tonnes), together resulting at X% of total export. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tonnes), committing a X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Malaysia (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest mica supplying countries in South-Eastern Asia were Malaysia ($X), Singapore ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per tonne in 2021, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X per tonne in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per tonne), while Vietnam ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Mica Imports
Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, purchases abroad of mica increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the third year in a row after four years of decline. Overall, imports recorded a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mica imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Vietnam (X tonnes) and Thailand (X tonnes) were the key importers of mica in 2021, resulting at near X% and X% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tonnes), constituting a X% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Thailand ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined X% share of total imports.
