Exports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2022, approx. X units of machinery for public works and building were exported in South-Eastern Asia; with an increase of X% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports recorded notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, public works machinery exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of machinery for public works and building. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Singapore and the Philippines increased by X and X percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Indonesia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports. Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, reducing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
