Exports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2022, approx. X units of files, rasps and similar tools were exported in South-Eastern Asia; declining by -22.8% against 2021. Overall, exports saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 57%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, files and rasps exports rose to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Indonesia (X units) and Singapore (X units) represented the key exporters of files, rasps and similar tools in 2022, amounting to near 46% and 42% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X units), mixing up a 10% share of total exports. Malaysia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +36.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, files and rasps imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year.
