For the third consecutive year, the Southeast Asian dry bean market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by X% to $X in 2022. Overall, consumption showed a abrupt decrease. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Dry Bean Production in South-Eastern Asia

In value terms, dry bean production expanded slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The level of production peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

The country with the largest volume of dry bean production was Myanmar (X tons), accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, dry bean production in Myanmar exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Vietnam (X tons), more than tenfold. Indonesia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume in Myanmar totaled X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (X% per year) and Indonesia (X% per year).

The average dry bean yield contracted modestly to X kg per ha in 2022, almost unchanged from the year before. In general, the yield continues to indicate a noticeable reduction.
