In value terms, bromides, iodides and oxids thereof exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 71%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In 2021, Singapore (X tons) was the key exporter of bromides and bromide oxides, iodides and iodide oxides, making up 48% of total exports. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Brunei Darussalam (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 51% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +96.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest bromides, iodides and oxids thereof supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore stood at +6.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lao People's Democratic Republic (+34.4% per year) and Malaysia (+5.0% per year).

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 24%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Singapore ($X per ton) and Thailand ($X per ton), while Brunei Darussalam ($X per ton) and Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (-0.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of bromides and bromide oxides, iodides and iodide oxides, when their volume decreased by -4.3% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 85%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, bromides, iodides and oxids thereof imports reached $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +77.4% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 49%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Malaysia represented the largest importer of bromides and bromide oxides, iodides and iodide oxides in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 47% of total imports in 2021. Singapore (X tons) took a 24% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Brunei Darussalam (10%), Indonesia (8.4%) and Thailand (6.6%). Myanmar (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +29.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), Thailand ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 74% share of total imports. Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.
Myanmar, with a CAGR of +12.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 18% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
