Exports in South-Eastern Asia
For the third consecutive year, South-Eastern Asia recorded decline in shipments abroad of artificial corundum, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, artificial corundum exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Thailand represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached X% of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Singapore (X%). The Philippines (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to artificial corundum exports from Thailand stood at X%. The Philippines (X%), Malaysia (X%) and Singapore (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia and Singapore saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
