The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, alcohols exports declined to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In 2020, Malaysia (X tons) represented the largest exporter of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, comprising X% of total exports. Singapore (X tons) occupied a X% share (based on tons) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Indonesia (X%). Thailand (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
