In 2022, overseas purchases of non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-electrical lamp imports reached $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest non-electrical lamp supplier to South Africa, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, non-electrical lamp imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X units), more than tenfold.
