Ether Market Size in South Africa

The revenue of the ether market in South Africa amounted to $X in 2018, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, ether exports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, ether exports stood at $X in 2018. Overall, ether exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, ether exports reached their maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Zimbabwe (X tonnes), Angola (X tonnes) and Malaysia (X tonnes) were the main destinations of ether exports from South Africa, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Zambia, Germany, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Israel, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Zimbabwe ($X), Angola ($X) and Morocco ($X) were the largest markets for ether exported from South Africa worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia, Zambia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Germany, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands and Israel lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X the main countries of destination, Germany recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to exports, over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average ether export price amounted to $X per tonne, picking up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the ether export price, however, continues to indicate a temperate contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. In that year, the average export prices for ethers reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2010 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average export prices for ethers failed to regain its momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into South Africa

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of ethers were imported into South Africa; going up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2007 to 2018: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, ether imports increased by +X% against 2014 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports by Country

In 2018, Germany (X tonnes) constituted the largest ether supplier to South Africa, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, ether imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Saudi Arabia (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+X% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+X% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ether to South Africa, comprising X% of total ether imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Belgium ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+X% per year) and China (+X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average ether import price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the ether import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% y-o-y. In that year, the average import prices for ethers reached their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2012 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average import prices for ethers remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the U.S., while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
