Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at X units in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker exports expanded slightly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports showed a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Botswana (X units) was the main destination for electric oven and cooker exports from South Africa, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, electric oven and cooker exports to Botswana exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Zambia (X units), threefold. Namibia (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Botswana amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Zambia (+X% per year) and Namibia (-X% per year).

In value terms, Zambia ($X), Botswana ($X) and Namibia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for electric oven and cooker exported from South Africa worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. Imports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
