Exports from South Africa

In 2022, overseas shipments of chewing gum decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the sixth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, chewing gum exports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Namibia (X tons), Botswana (X tons) and Swaziland (X tons) were the main destinations of chewing gum exports from South Africa, with a combined X% share of total exports.
