The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, exports attained the peak of X units. from 2011 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware exports expanded significantly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports showed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Botswana (X units), Namibia (X units) and Zimbabwe (X units) were the main destinations of ceramic sanitary ware exports from South Africa, together accounting for X% of total exports. Zambia, Swaziland, Lesotho and Malawi lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Lesotho, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Zambia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Lesotho ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malawi, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ceramic sanitary ware imports into South Africa reduced markedly to X units in 2020, which is down by -X% on 2019. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware imports fell sharply to $X in 2020. In general, imports showed a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
