Exports from South Africa

In 2022, exports of paperboard case materials from South Africa shrank dramatically to X tons, waning by -18.3% against 2021 figures. In general, exports continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 52%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, paperboard case material imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
