Exports from Slovenia

In 2022, approx. X tons of hops were exported from Slovenia; falling by X% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, hop exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. Germany (X tons) was the main destination for hop exports from Slovenia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, hop exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the UK (X tons), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (X% per year) and the UK (X% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Seychelles (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of hops, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, hop imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X tons) was the main hop supplier to Slovenia, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, hop imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Belgium (X tons), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (X% per year) and Belgium (X% per year).

In value terms, the largest hop suppliers to Slovenia were Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising X% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
